Back from the beach.

had fun shooting fun beach shots of my friend's first trip to the ocean. We were lucky enough to catch a couple hours of sun on our first day, before being fogged in all weekend.

And it continues

Last fall was the parade of Lycra Bodysuits down the cat walks, and now I've been spending a lot of time with spandex. I think I'm done... we can only hope.

If you want some SEE THROUGH SPANDEX LEGGINGS!!!! you can get them on my etsy, or send me an email. (cartwheeld (at) gmail (dot) com)

Spandex!!!

I bought some spandex to make a bathing suit with. Got excited. And made bicycle shorts... oops.

But my insanity, your gain. Limited time offer of skirt+shorts package deal on my etsy.

If you feel an absolute need for spandex shorts sans skirt, I can hook you up for $25. They are realllllllly comfortable.

I dedicate today to the cropped t-shirt

A rare find

Something wonderful, strange, and unexpected.

Les Chats Bott├ęs is a 90 minute long gonzo adventure into the lives of two young ne'er do wells living in Montreal in the late 60's/early 70's. Regarded as a cult favourite, as well as just a bad movie it seems to get past those labels by being brilliantly funny and visually complex.

Each scene is a new con, scheme, or adventure with the only continuity being the emotional progression of the female roles. Each moment is completely independent of the scene that precedes it (they break into opera at around the one hour mark. this lasts for about 6 minutes and then gets back to business). As the film progresses the girlfriends each have their own emotional mission, and new characters get introduced that, if you're feeling philosophical, appear to represent the unspoken aspects of the lead characters personalities. These include the gay maid and the septuagenarian that looks suspiciously like the ex girlfriend.

Ok, almost done gushing, but there is so much in this film. Using inuit throat singing for the sound effects of a sex scene. Toilet paper printed with canadian flags. The one anglophone character, who is a contender for the upper class twit of the year award, is subtitled not with what he's actually saying, but with what he's doing, or the intentions of what he's saying.

Oh and there's a strip tease by Queen Elizabeth II.

oh and it's completely in quebecois french, however if you can track down a copy see it anyway. The jokes rely heavily on visual puns and it doesn't really make anymore sense if you understand everything they're saying anyway.

mini collection preview

I'm making a 5 look mini collection for a shoot on saturday morning.

I'm trying to figure out if I have the money to go and get more fabric to add a 6th look, or to make all the leggings i want to have.

Anyway, these is what my sketchpad looks like this morning.

Mesh Leggings

(the photo keeps freaking out, but I assure you they're gray.)

These are super stretchy, and super comfortable.

Made from a gray nylon/spandex mesh with all the seams finished (no raw edge), and slouchy ankles.

Worky worky

Did a shoot for BlackMarketBaby yesterday slowly editing the photos, while I slowly finish this bottle of beer.

Photo shoots!!!

Both the t-shirt and the skirt are going to be available for sale on etsy in various sizes (t-shirt 40$, skirt 35$) once I get a picture of the garments flat.

I shot a bunch of stuff for my friends as well, but haven't sorted through those photos yet.

They, and other stuff, will be popping up here shortly.

Diet Dinner!!!!

Buckwheat Soba noodles (cheat because it does contain regular wheat flour)
Sliced Avacado
Wakame (rehydrated japanese kelp)
Fresh Cilantro

and topped with
Snowpea Sprouts

In retrospect I would have steamed the sprouts as they're a bit tough.

Trying not to cheat on my diet.

Dry roasted potatoes (done on a baking stone with sea salt and rosemary)
Black beans with onions (done with a smidgen of olive oil and cumin; both are cheats).
Topped with fresh Cilantro and Chive heads.

(This is a diet not for losing weight, but for sensitive stomachs.)
